Solo female travel has become one of the strongest trends shaping the global tourism market today, with a growing number of women choosing to explore the world independently in search of safety, authentic experiences and personal growth.
Against this backdrop, Forbes has published its list of the 36 best destinations for solo female travelers, with Paros among the featured locations.
According to the publication, interest in solo female travel has been rising steadily in recent years. Citing data published by the BBC, Forbes reports that global searches for the term “solo travel for women” have increased by 30% over the past five years.
Meanwhile, a 2025 survey found that nearly four in ten female travelers (40%) were interested in taking a solo trip, up eight percentage points from the previous year.
The trend is even more pronounced among older women. According to a survey by Collette and JourneyWoman, 61% of women aged 50 and over say they prefer to travel solo, placing particular emphasis on authentic cultural experiences, personal growth and the confidence that comes from independently exploring new destinations.
Forbes notes that modern solo travel does not necessarily mean travelling alone in isolation. Instead, many women are seeking trips that combine independence with social interaction, whether through small group tours, wellness retreats or activities that make it easy to meet fellow travelers.
To compile the list, the magazine invited six women working professionally in the travel industry—including chief executive officers, luxury travel advisors, founders of travel retreats and travel content creators—to share their recommendations. The experts selected destinations they consider ideal for solo female travelers, taking into account factors such as safety, ease of getting around, hospitality, the range of experiences on offer and opportunities to connect with other travelers.
Among the recommended destinations are countries such as Japan, Morocco, Ireland, and Indonesia, with a focus on Bali, as well as Greece, with Paros also used as a central visual reference in the article, presenting the Greek island as a representative example of a destination that attracts women who choose to travel independently.
Forbes notes that the momentum behind solo female travel is expected to continue in the coming years, as more women opt for trips that offer greater freedom, authentic experiences and personal empowerment, making it one of the fastest-growing segments of the global travel market.
